Winifred Daunene "Winnie" Clift
Portage, WI. - Winifred Daunene “Winnie” Clift, beloved wife, grandmother, and friend, was called to Heaven on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at the age of 87. She was born on March 23, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois.
Winnie met the love of her life, James “Jimmie” Clift, in Baraboo, Wisconsin and they were married on October 28, 1961. They spent their married life in Baraboo and Sauk Prairie Wisconsin and Jim passed away in 2008. After that, Winnie spent a few years in Colorado with her son, Tim and his wife, Jane, but eventually moved back to Wisconsin and spent her last few years in Poynette and Portage.
Winnie leaves behind three children, Tim Clift (Jane), Sandy Krisko (Jeff), and Cindy Stepanik (Don); as well as her sister, Betty (Dan) Eberdt. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Hudnell; and great-grandson, Ethan Hudnell. She will be missed dearly by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She touched all their lives with her kindness, love, and generosity of spirit.
The most important things in Winnie’s life were her faith, family, and friends. She was surrounded by friends her entire life who were drawn to her smile, love of life, and faithfulness. Winnie always tried to see the best in everyone.
Thanks go out to both the staff of Heritage House in Portage and the team of hospice care providers that cared for her the last few years. The family owes a special debt of gratitude to her angel of earth, Hope Bennett, who faithfully provided emotional, physical, spiritual, and medical support to both Winnie and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Baldwin Funeral Services, 520 East St., Baraboo, WI, with Pastor Hope Bennett officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo.
