Baraboo, WI. - Paul David Freitag passed away way too soon on Friday January 31, 2025 at the age of 58. He loved his family so much, but unfortunately his heart was just too big for his body. 

Paul was born on April 28, 1966 and was welcomed into Don and Wynn Freitag’s family. His sister Mary came a few years later to complete the family. Paul and Mary have many fun memories with each other. God also sent him the perfect bonus mom, Don’s second wife, Laura Freitag. In his 30’s he was fortunate enough to find his birth mom, Roxanne Buck. They had a wonderful relationship until her death. 

He grew up in Portage, WI, where he attended Portage High School and then went onto UW Platteville. After moving to Baraboo, he met and married Rhonda (Hanley) Freitag on April 29, 1995. On December 25, 1997 both of their dreams came true when their daughter Rachael was born into the world. 

Paul loved spending time with his family. During the last two months of his life he spent nearly every day with his daughter renovating her new home. When he wasn’t spending time with them, you could find him giving everyone a run for their money at the poker table. He also enjoyed watching all different kinds of sports. In his younger days, he loved hunting and fishing. He was also a secret Swiftie with his daughter Rachael. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don, Laura, and Wynn; his birth mom, Roxanne; and his mother-in-law, Carolyn Hanley. 

Paul is survived by his wife, Rhonda; daughter, Rachael (Arif Cay); father-in-law, Din Dovolos; sister, Mary Freitag; sister-in-law, Vicky (AJ Reppen); nieces and nephews, Abigail, Aaron, Ben, Max, Brittany and Taylor; great-nieces and nephews, Madilyn, Anna, Olivia, Samuel and Rose. He is further survived by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 624 East St., Baraboo, WI, with Pastor Tim Kuske officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Baldwin Funeral Services from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
