Gordon D. Parchem
West Baraboo - Gordon D. Parchem, age 86, of West Baraboo, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. Gordon was born on May 3, 1927, in the Township of Dellona, the son of Louis and Violet (Weir) Parchem. On Feb. 23, 1963, he was united in marriage to Ann Gavinski. Gordon was owner and operator of Baraboo Tree Service, and the Yamaha Village. He continued to work in the Tree Service industry until the age of 75 before retiring. Gordon was an avid snowmobile rider and racer, motorcyclist, hunter, card and horseshoe player, and enjoyed outdoor gardening. He was a very caring family man and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Ann; his children, Penny (Gene) Parchem, Richard (Karen) Parchem, Jeff (Mary) Parchem, Russ (Angie) Volz, Dale (Beth Ann) Parchem; brothers, Norman Parchem, Robert (Carol) Parchem, and Gene (Marci) Parchem; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Shirley Parchem; and many nieces; nephews; and extended family; and friends. In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by a sister, Leona (Herb) Sattler; brothers, Melvin (Hazel) Parchem, Vernie Parchem, and James “Jimmy” Parchem. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Rago-Baldwin Funeral Home, 520 East St., in Baraboo, with Pastor Lisa Taylor officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
